In Dr. Bob's Own Words

From the Pastor…

Please allow me the means of your Pastor’s column to share with you my story.  I am the Christian Church of which your beloved Congregation is an integral component.  As you know, I had a most unique beginning in that I was founded some two thousand years ago by the very Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.  Through these last two millennia, millions and millions of people just like you have found their way into my embrace and fellowship.  Furthermore, they have discovered a manner of life which affords them joy, peace, contentment, and purpose.  Even more, this quality of life which is truly abundant provides them the assurance of eternal life in Heaven with our Father God.

As these many years of my earthly existence have come and gone, I have known and experienced numerous highs and lows.  Indeed, the Evil One, old Lucifer, has often straddled my pathway, thus threatening my very existence.  Throughout the ages, wicked people have tried in vain to destroy me, both from within and without my fold.  Multitudes have joined my ranks in name only and have drifted into indifference and unconcern toward me and my ministry.  Others have become hostile, harsh, and belligerent.  As you might guess, this toxic combination of apathy and hostility has caused much harm to me and my work in our world.

My task in our post-modern world is overwhelming, but alas, my laborers are few.  Through the years, I have endeavoured to work in numerous small units such as local congregations in the various cities and communities around the globe.  Through the worship, work, and witness of my congregations, I have accomplished much for the Kingdom of God and for the good of our hurting world.  However, there is still so much to do today, and I need the help and assistance of every believer.  As the Body of Christ in our world, I am blessed and elated with the faithfulness and support of so many in these small units.  Yet, I am deeply grieved by the casual, cavalier, and even calloused attitude of others within my domain.  How can I be effective, much less successful, when so many who once said “Lord, Lord,” have not attended my services of worship in weeks, months, and even years?

You and I know that if my future were left strictly to them, I would certainly perish.  By their apathy and lack of support, they are voting for my extinction.  But thanks be to God, I am His and I belong exclusively to Him!  According to the Lord Jesus, I the Church am His Creation, and the powers of death and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against me.  (Matthew 16:18).  Through your Pastor’s column, I have attempted to speak to you and to encourage your faithful and devoted service as we strive to be “the light of the world” and “the salt of the earth” for God’s glory and for the salvation and transformation of our planet.  Thank you for all you do for me and the Kingdom of our Lord!

As always, your Pastor will be blessed to greet you and all who will join for Bible Study and Worship this Sunday in the Father’s House.
